Canadian Idol auditions were held in St. John's April 18-19 and the media were invited to come out and audition for Canadian Media Idol.

Here's how CTV described the event: CTV's eTalk Daily issued a friendly challenge to members of the Newfoundland media to
see if they have what it takes to "audition" for Canadian Idol in the eTalk Daily Media Idol Competition. eTalk is set to throw down
the gauntlet to local media in each of the 10 cities on the tour, continuing in St. John's on Monday, April 17. The Newfoundland
Media Idol winner will receive $1,000 for the charity of their choice as well as an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto to compete in
the eTalk Daily Media Idol finals to be held on the Canadian Idol stage this summer. The Newfoundland Media Idol winner will
travel to Toronto to attend the first Top 10 Canadian Idol Performance Show in July. The Top 10 Media Idols will get a further
sense for the Canadian Idol competitor experience by receiving vocal and choreography training, rehearsals on the Canadian Idol
stage, and style tips from professional wardrobe and make-up consultants. When they are ready, they will step onto the Canadian
Idol stage and compete in a showdown to become the 2006 eTalk Daily Media Idol champion. The finals will be taped for
broadcast on the fourth season of Canadian Idol this summer.

Introducing the winner of the Newfoundland auditions: OZ FM's Paul Kinsman!
Listen to the audition here.

Paul sings John Hiatt's Have a Little Faith in Me in front of other NL media singers and
Idol's Zak Werner and Top 10 finalist Jason Greeley. As a tie-breaker, the singers were
asked to sing a NL traditional song. He did Pinball Wizard sung to the tune of The Star
of Logy Bay. Try it... it actually works both ways.

Paul is announced the winner and presented with $1000 to donate to the charity of his choice,
The Autism Society of NL and Lab. for a Music Therapy program.

Paul will be representing OZ FM and Newfoundland & Labrador in July when he travels to Toronto to
compete in the Canadian Media Idol finals. Here's CTV's story about the event.
